Our beautiful lakefront home, built 1980, was remodeled by my wife and me to be ours forever home. The wooded site with a beautiful lake view inspired our vision for stone and wood. On the front of the house, we built a unique triple gable entry where we installed a custom-built gable bracket. We built the soffit extra wide to accommodate brackets to tie in with the entryway. Then stained the gable bracket and soffit brackets to match the wood finishes. Inside the home we raised the wall height from eight foot to twelve foot, then vaulted the ceiling to an incredible height of eighteen feet, giving the room a gorgeous view of the lake and the western sunsets. Of course, the grand room demanded custom cedar trusses; helping to lower the height of the room and at the same time adding structural charm. The view of the lake, and sunset views inspired us to open the back wall of the living room with upper windows. So, we installed cedar gable brackets and knee braces to the deck roof gable. The accent cedar wood brackets can be viewed from inside the living room, from the deck, from the back yard, and from boats on the lake.
